It’s another beautiful morning in Tel Aviv! Today we are heading south to visit multiple JNF sites in the Negev: a desert in Israel comprising about 60% of the state. Hopefully we will not only be able to discover further leadership insight, but also some stable wifi!

It has been a crazy day! After The Alexander Muss High School in Israel, we made a pit stop at Better Place for just enough time for Michael Granoff to convince us that easily accessible, electric cars are the way of the future.

Following our lesson in replaceable car batteries, our trip took a serious turn as we made our way through the Carmel Forest, witnessing the region’s devastation first hand. On December 2, 2010, Israel experienced the worst natural disaster of her time. JLIM participants were given the bittersweet opportunity to visit the site where 44 lives were lost while fighting an impossible blaze destroying an estimated 5,000,000 trees.

Our last stop before dinner was the Atlit Detention Camp, a place where Jews immigrating to Israel after the Holocaust between 1945-1948 were detained. The Atlit Detention Camp is a lesser known, but very important part of Israeli history, highlighting the courage and the perseverance of the Jewish people.
